In Western thought, there is the idea that nature should be controlled by humans. In the East, on the other hand, there is the contradictory idea that nature should be worshipped and let loose. The fountain as an object is a manifestation of this Western need to control, often with human heads spitting out an endless amount of water.

In the attempt to control the water, the final form of the falling water is uncontrollable. Inspired by the Western toy "Mr. Potato Head" and the Japanese children's game "Fukuwarai," we wanted to add the notion of "uncontrollability" to the head of the fountain, literally and figuratively, with a constant flow of changing faces and combinations.

When we create something, we try to know the exact characteristics of the material and work with them. In trying to make the best use of them, there is always a fine line between the controllable and the uncontrollable, which is an eternal theme that arises when humans encounter any material. Our modern technology, art and culture are based on the repetition of this process of trial and error, of seeing and trying until it fits.
