Merry Susan

"Food Hood : Don't Play With Your Food"
at Dutch Design Week

The rotating table, a symbol of Chinese restaurants is called Lazy Susan in the West. Susan was a common name for maids at that time. And this Lazy Susan freed people from their roles and their labor at the table and emphasized the democracy of the meal.

This time, Fujisaku superimposed this round device placed in the middle of the table on the figure of Merry-go-round set up in the center of the square. As the Merry Susan is turned, the tabletop becomes a square, and the food and tableware around it are enveloped in festivity, bringing a sense of freedom and playfulness to the meal.
