The Seagull and the Sunset
Interior Design Proposal
2026
Collaboration with and illustration by Phoebe Zoe Ho

The Seagull and the Sunset unfolds within a room of Villa Noailles, where the boundaries between reality and imagination, outside and inside, self and others become blurred and gradually dissolve.

Drawing from the scenography found in surrealist films closely connected to the history of the villa, the project understands set design as a device that mediates between reality and the unconscious, and incorporates its methods into the language of interior space.

Walls covered in lace-patterned wallpaper are segmented and bent, allowing the elements that compose the room to begin moving freely. Plants pass back and forth across the inner and outer sides of these walls without restriction. Behind their structures, fragments of personal memory are stored.

From the intimacy of a bedroom emerges a personal journey—one that ultimately reconnects with the outside world.
